How long have you been doing CrossFit? 3 years, on and off.
What brought you to CWCF?
When I moved back east from San Francisco in June 2019, I wanted to get back into CrossFit. I knew this would help balance life at my new job. I researched gyms in the area (I live in west Cambridge), and CWCF continually had the best reviews. I dropped into a class (it had max double unders in 5 minutes!), and the rest is history. What classes do you usually attend? 5:30am
What do you love about CWCF?
The coaches, community, programming, and facility. It really doesn't get any better.
What do you do outside of CrossFit?
I'm a Project Manager at a real estate development firm, Boylston Properties. We build projects across various use types in and around the Boston area. When we lived in San Francisco, I earned a Master's degree in Real Estate Development & Design from UC Berkeley.
What is something about you we might not know?
I played Squash (yes, this is a sport) at Hobart College.
Who is your superhero? This is constantly changing depending on what book I'm reading, podcast I'm listening to, or show I'm watching, etc. At the moment, it's ultra runner Rich Roll.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement? Dubs!
What is your greatest achievement in the gym so far? Legless rope climbs. They've always intimidated me!
What is one short-term goal, one long-term goal, and what have you been doing to work on them?
Short-term: I want to learn handstand walks and ring muscle-ups. I've been working on shoulder strength and stability to improve my chances... Long-term: I want to improve communities and the built environment through well-designed, thoughtful projects.
What motivates or inspires you? Knowing that when class is over at 6:30am, I'll never regret having gotten out of bed at 5am.
What is your best tip for new members? Trust the process, master the fundamentals, practice full range of motion, and don't be afraid to scale movements before moving on.
Do you have anything to add? I feel very fortunate to have CWCF in my life. The coaches and community continue to drive me towards reaching my fitness goals. There is no chance I would workout at 5:30am without those around me!
